Joining as an Individual

The Federation is primarily a service organisation for GoldWing Clubs  but individuals may join the Federation as Individual Associates if they wish, for example if there is no Club in their local area or to suit their particular special interest.

Joining as an Individual Associate is primarily a way of showing your interest in forming  a new local or special interest Club and the Federation will pass on contact information between Associates to put them in contact whenever there seems value in doing so unless Individual Associates specifically request otherwise.

Individual Associates may wear Federation regalia and where there are personal benefits to belonging, for example the free Hi Viz jeckets which have been handed out, Individual Associates will benefit in the same way as Affiliated Club Members.  And they may also attend Federation Events as of right.

It must be appreciated however that GoldWing Clubs which join the Federation retain their full independence as Clubs and it is up to them who they allow to attend their meetings or join in their activities.  Individual Associates may ask to be allowed to attend or take part but there is no entitlement to do so.  Asking to attend a meeting or to join a ride to see if it suits will often be welcome but Individual Associateship with the Federation is not an alternative to joining an Affiliated Club and shouldn’t be thought of as such.

As an Individual Associate you will be able to use the Federation’s Website to publicise any ideas you may have about forming a new Club or organising and event or a tour if you want to.  And by the way if you form a Club within the same subscription year you won’t have to pay for yourself twice; the subscription you will have already paid will count towards your new Club’s Affiliation Subscription.

To join as an Individual Associate contact the Federation Secretary by using the Contact Form on this Website.  He will then send you an Application Form so you can supply the necessary personal and contact information. The Federation has no rules but there are expectation of friendliness, so you will be asked to accept the Federation’s Values.   The Federation’s Officers are not bound to accept every application and may decline to do so if they consider it necessary.

The cost of joining as an Individual Associate is the same as the per-membership subscription which Affiliated Clubs pay, due on joining and for renewal in January each year.  A reduced rate applies if you join after July.  The spouse/partner and immediate family (i.e. dependent children) are included in Associateship without further subscription.
