One or two changes in the way the Federation operates were agreed recently at a meeting of the small team which runs things.
Dave Turvey has stepped down as Joint Chairman to become Vice Chairman, leaving Bob Summers to take a more prominent role as Chairman. Bob has also announced that he will be stepping down as Chairman of GoldWings North West at the end of the Club’s first year next February, to let someone else have a go and to give himself more time to develop and promote the Federation. Dave is continuing as Chairman of GoldWings North Wales when they have their AGM.
Jeff Thornton, who is an experienced and confident businessman (and perhaps a slightly less confident and experienced Winger) has kindly agreed to join the Federation’s small management team as Treasurer, allowing this role to be separated from that of Secretary, which Stuart will retain.
The Federation will continue to operate as a small group of volunteers who get on with things for the time being, with the intention of introducing some appropriate form of democratic accountability and a systen of election of Officers in due course, if and when it makes sense to do so.
In the meantime there’s nothing hidden or secretive about what’s going on and if any Winger would like to know more about what is happening and how the Team works, they are most welcome to ask – especially if they have an interest in volunteering to help.
Jeff’s skills and experience in marketing will make a welcome addition to the BLP Organising Team, which he will also be joining.
Congratulations to everyone
